Hello! My name is Malynn Pavey, and I’m originally from Grinnell, Iowa. I have lived in Iowa all my life, and I quite enjoy it here! Most people think Iowa is just about corn and farming, but in truth, it’s more than that. Iowa is a mixture of cultures and people with a million different interests. Yes, we do have a lot of corn and farmers, but many other people are moving our wonderful state in the right direction. I am a Drake University graduate with a degree in Digital Media Production and a degree in Zoo Conservation. Through these two degrees, I will be able to create several different digital products, including short films, poster graphics, and digital photography that are related to animal conservation.
Current Career Aspirations
I currently work as a Marketing Manager for Central Financial Group in Des Moines, IA. I create a lot of social media posts about financial services and insurance products as well as managing the Central Financial Group website. I started working for CFG in 2024 as a Social Media and Marketing intern. After a year of dedication and hard work, I was offered a full-time position upon graduation from Drake University.
I also hold a side hobby for photography and videography, as well as photo editing. I have always loved creating an image that evoked strong emotions and drove people to take action. I always loved taking pictures of nature and animals, which is why I originally went into Zoo Conservation as my second major. I wanted to use social media and photography as Animal and Environmental Science Advocacy.

Future Plans
As I begin to grow into being a truly independent adult, the road is becoming straighter, and the light at the end of the tunnel is getting bigger. I was extremely fortunate to have a full time job with a company I enjoy being with right away out of college. Not every college graduate has a job lined up right away after graduation, and they struggle to find a well-paying job for a while. However, I still want to follow my ambition to protect our future through conservation and education.
I plan to stay with Central Financial Group as long as I can. There are many people at CFG who are willing to help me grow and learn as I become more and more of an adult. I will learn key job skills as well as key personal skills that I can use anywhere and anytime in the present as well as in the future.
I hope to be able to continue my advocacy for animal and environmental well-being through my social media pages, as well as the photography that I do. It is important to have a passion outside of the office so that I am not bored while sitting at home or aimlessly scrolling and watching tv. I want to be out in nature as much as possible when I am not working in the office.
I am excited to be spending a few month in California this fall where I can gain more experience in both my working environment and my personal hobbies. California is one of the biggest states for animal and environmental advocacy! I would love to experience advocacy there and feel as if I am truly making a difference!
